Are you missing some things, some events or someone? Are you always reminiscing old memories while taking a bath, drinking your coffee, watering your plants or when you're about to sleep?
Are you often saying, "That was memorable!", "That was fun!" or "I miss this. Can I go back to this time?", when Facebook reminds you of what happened years ago?
Do you still remember those gatherings with full of laughter? I'm sure you do. Do you also remember the not so good ones?
We had days full of arguments, misunderstanding, pains and brokenness. There were times that our character, identity, faith, trust, compassion and hope was being tested. I am hoping that these testing made us and not broke us. I hope forgiveness was being released and joy together with peace was being received.
Romans 8:28 NLT And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. Ephesians 4:32 ESV Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.
Days are passing by so fast. Day after day, we almost do the same thing and so we tend to remember the old times more often.
We miss going outside without wearing face mask and face shield, staying late at night at a coffee shop, going to school everyday by walking, biking or commuting. We miss to travel and eat together, and we surely miss seeing each other face to face. We miss some of our loved ones and friends, too. We miss them to a point that we just want them to be around without doing anything special, just their presence.
We miss all of these, but we should not forget to live our NOW. What do we have now? Who are with us now? Who are there for us in this very moment? Who makes time to see us, and check on us? Let's treasure them and be grateful for what/who we have.
Don’t long for “the good old days.” This is not wise.
Ecclesiastes 7:10 NLT
Maybe the things that we have right now are the things we've prayed years ago, but we couldn't recognize them because we keep on missing what happened back then. Let's not miss our "NOW".
Philippians 4:8-9 (ESV) says,
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
These are the things that we should always think and practice. 💜
