The Ladder of Life

Would you allow yourself to be trapped in the middle of the road? Would you stop there because one of your shoes got ruined? Will you go back? Or you would go on with your journey no matter what the circumstances are?

In our journey, we often fall into the paradox of life: a couple of times we want to give up, but we never did; doubted ourselves but still trying; wanting to disappear and leave everything behind but, by the grace of God, we’re sustained.

Look at yourself today, you have gone this far. Imagine if you stopped during those days you thought you could not do it anymore, the days you were tired, and the days you had lost all your interests. Yet, here you are standing firm while facing another battle again that you also wanted to flee from today. It was ridiculous and frustrating but, have you ever noticed this cycle?

Life is a ladder.

The step goes higher; our battle also increases, as well as our character. We cannot win our battles without improving our characteristics and with the same old mindset. If plants grow, then we should grow, too. It needs both the sunshine and the rain for its flowers to bloom or for it to bear fruits.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance (James 1:2-3). God is teaching us to be grateful in all opportunities where we learn and improve our character. We must walk in perseverance to reach the goals and desires that God implanted in our hearts, especially our destination, the life of eternity with God.

Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything (James 1:4). God wants us to mature in faith and lack nothing in the character of becoming more like Jesus. But it is only possible if we persevere during the walk: neither stagnant nor living in despair. Perseverance does not mean we never make mistakes, failures, and have setbacks but, we continue our journey despite these.

You will not reach where you are right now, if you had already quit before, and if you don't allow God to lead you through the process. To let go, and let Him guide your steps, and always bear in mind that: "no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). Never put limitations on yourself nor be overwhelmed by what you have already achieved because there is more to life. You are only reaching some steps in the ladder of life and still not the destination. Continue moving despite there are times, it seems like the universe is against you, but by the grace of God you will overcome.

The righteous keep moving forward, and those with clean hands become stronger and stronger (Job 17:9).

Never wait for things to go altogether with the way you wanted them to be, and a time where the world will cooperate before you move and take a step, for I tell you it will never happen. All forces will be against you because the enemy doesn't want you to reach your full potential. Just keep working each day even if sometimes your progress is not visible, but small steps matter. That is why God expected us to walk in perseverance and "pray without ceasing" (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Continue living your purpose, face your fears and be the best version that you envision yourself to be in the future.

See you at the finish line!
